ACADEMIC YEAR 2018 - 2019


AGOSTO 3, 2018    –   PAGBUBUKAS NA PALATUNTUNAN                             

                SINIMULAN ang Pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wika sa Mataas na Paaralang Ramon Avanceña noong Agosto 3, 2018, ika-7 ng umaga, sa Deck Floor ng paaralan.

                Isang Banal na Misa ang isinagawa bago binuksan ang tabing ng entablado para sa maikli ngunit masaya at makabuluhang palatuntunan. Naging tila Fiesta ang okasyon dahil sa masaya at masiglang programa.

                “Filipino: Wika ng Saliksik” ang tema ng selebrasyon sa taong ito.



           Grade 10 – Pythagoras student Rayhan Mayasa ranked overall 9th in the Division level photojournalism competition held at the Arroceros Forest park, August 29, 2018.  Together with her was her classmate  Aisa Bandila who won first place in the Filipino category.  Mr. Marvin Cabrera accompanied the two contestants in the venue.


         Setting foot at Marikina High School for the first time, delegates of Ramon Avancena High School joined the Regional Schools Press Conference as representatives of Manila in News writing and Science writing categories.  Contestants were Christine Dapal (Science writing-English), Harris Angkua (Science writing-Filipino) and Sofia Abarquez (News writing-Filipino) and with them were the advisers Mrs. Nardo and Mr. Cabrera.  Comprising the National Capital Region were  the Division superintendents who were also present to inaugurate the event.  Experts in mass media and private institutions were also invited to serve as judges in the individual and group categories.

         Day 2 of the Regional Schools Press Conference were the photojournalism and other group categories.  Avancena contestants were Rayhan Mayasa (photojournalism – English) and Aisa Bandila (photojournalism – Filipino).  Qualifying in the division level, Rayhan and Aisa felt the pressure of competing with fellow NCR journalists.  They were given the theme unity as topic of their pictures which should be taken within the vicinity of Marikina High School.  Results of the entire competition will be announced on October 6, 2018 on the same venue.



          One more for the road.  School year isn’t over but Avancena keeps on bagging titles this time from the Science Department after winning as champion in the Division Level Eco-mersyal contest held last January 26, 2019 at Torres High School.  Mrs. Marygin Joson supervised the Avancenan contestants in their entry. 

           Mrs. Marygin Joson, Master Teacher I of the Science Department, won second place in the Division level Learning Resource Material Contest for Master Teachers held last February 17, 2018 at Manila Grand Opera Hotel.  

           Robotics research entitled “Butterfly Water Sprinkler” won 5th place Grade 9 Team Category under Ms. Ailene Kris Ilano’s supervision. This was held at the school last October 11 during the First Division Robotics Research Fair. Avancenan winners strike a pose with their trainor, Mr. Pena, the principal, Mrs. Bronce, the Science Department Head and representatives of the Manila Robotics Society.

          These Avacnenans show off their talent other than computing formulas and mixing solutions in the Tugsayawit Contest held last November 12, 2018 at Jose Abad Santos High School.  Our representatives ended First runner up in the district level with Ms. Ailene Kris Ilano as their trainor.

          A thumbs-up sign showed these Avancenans their winning prowess as they ended silver medalists in the 2nd Manila Young Inventors Expo and Trade Fair in the INVENTONDO 2017 held last February 20, 2018 at Tondo High School.  With the Grade 10 contestants was their trainor, Mrs. Marygin Joson.

The Voice Challenge 2018

Showcasing the talent of true Avanceñan in singing, Mariel Angela Suganob of Grade 8 was declared champion of the YMCA “The Voice Challenge 2018”, held last July 29, 2018 at the YMCA of Manila Auditorium. She was trained by Mrs. Aimee Rose A. Galicia, RAHS-YMCA Coordinator.

Bible Quiz bee

It is good to know the things about our world. But it is better to know the word of God and live with it and share it to the world. Last June 30, 2018, Sofia Abarquez of Grade 10 showed her knowledge of God’s word through the YMCA Bible Quiz bee held at YMCA of Manila Board Room. She was trained by Mrs. Aimee Rose A. Galicia and eventually won 3rd place.

Sudoku Challenge 2018

Harris Angkua raised the flag of Ramon Avanceña High School last December 6, 2018 for being the 1st place winner in the Division Level Math Olympics 2018: Sudoku Challenge Grade 9 Category, held at F. Torres High School. His skills in solving Sudoku puzzles was polished by his trainer Ms. Jessica A. Alvior with 27 schools betting in competition. The Grade 9 competitor finished best in the three categories.

                 The opening program of Technolympics 2018 was held at Osmeña High School, Assistant School Division (ASDS) Mr. Pedro M. Arao gave an inspirational message and mentioned about 3 A’s to success-Awareness, Attitude and action. The different contest for the Home Economics held at Lakandula High School for Food Processing and Bread and Pastry Production while Landscaping Contest at Torres High School where we won 9th Place among 32 schools in Manila

                July marks the 44th year nutrition month celebration with the theme “Ugaliing Magtanim, Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin”.

                As a gesture of showing our support to the government’s program particularly the Department of Education, the Ramon Avancena High School conducted a school-based nutrition program. Among our month long activities line-up are the following: Slogan, Poster Making, Sing and Dance, Essay Writing and Ms. Fit and Fab 2018.

                On July 2, 2018, we had our launching a parade of selected students and the Step-Club Officer. We had a short program informing the students for the different that we have.

                On July 6, 2018 we celebrated the first Friday mass held at the school quadrangle.

                On July 2-20, 2018, a slogan, poster making, sing and dance and essay writing contest were conducted.

                July 26, 2018, an elimination round were conducted for the Ms. Fit and Fab.

                The most awaited part was the culminating program. It was fun and joy. A parade of all the Ms.   

                  Fit & Fab 2018. An intermission number were performed by the Sing & Dance top 3 winners and a selected Step-Club Officers. Awards were given to the top 3 best of the contest such as slogan, poster making, sing & dance, essay writing. Top 4 for the Ms. Fit and Fab runner up. Hasmin Abdulatip won the title Ms. Fit and Fab 2018 of Grade 9-Rizal.


Mr. Michael Molo sits beside Mariel Angela Suganob as they pray intently for a positive result of the singing contest category held last September 4, 2018 during the Interact Club Educational Contest at Casino Espanyol.  Fellow advisers hope for the same thing as they share the atmosphere with Mr. Molo.

Their prayers worked.  Mariel Angela Suganob, a Grade 8 student, stood champion in the singing contest category of the Interact Club Educational Contest as she gave her own rendition of ‘Salamat Musika.’

It almost seemed like a fiesta.  These candidates represented countries around the world in celebration of the United Nations month held during its culminating activity last October 12, 2018.  Wearing the national costumes, the candidates vied for the title Miss United Nations, making the event truly colorful and animated.

The United Nations culminating activity was not only a celebration of countries and beauties, it was most of all, a celebration of culture and diversity and the unity that exists in between.  Avancenans demonstrated oneness in ideals as they showcased the uniqueness of every cultural presentation.


             The Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao meeting on the upcoming activities  on Classroom Observation, Career Talk , foundation day preparation, forms to be submitted

             In preparation for the upcoming year end activities, classroom observations, career talk, foundation day preparations and other submissions, teachers of the EsP department met during a LAC session for finalization.  Leading the pack is Mrs. Marta G. Brillantes who presided the session.  With her are the teachers of the department, Mr. Glenn Bautista and Mrs. Nerissa Barrientos.

            In participation of the Early Registration 2019, The EsP Department presented output and achievements of the BSP Senior Scouts during the Open House activity held at the deck floor last January 31.  Representatives of the club used AVP as part of its marketing strategy with free orientation in advancement and membership of the Boy Scouts.  While Lusog Isip ng Kabatan LINK Club exhibited bookmarks and creative slogans to the students of Geronimo Santiago Elementary School.    

             Grade 10 students attend the CAREER GUIDANCE TALK 2019 held in Bulwagan last January 2019 with the principal, Mr. Manolo G. Pena giving insights on decision-making about Senior High School.   Faculty members of the Senior high department were also present during the talk.   


The MAPEH Department / SHS Assembly together with other departments launched the Department of Education OK Program last July 16, 2018 with the theme

“ Drug Education Campaign “.

                In connection with the OK Program, the MAPEH department & the SHS Assembly conducted the slogan and poster making contests.
